Vibrant Gujarat summit Kicks off at Gujarat

The seventh edition of Vibrant Gujarat summit was inaugurated by prime minister Narendra Modi. This year the event was held at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar. For the firsttime in the history of the summit 8 Countries Canada, Japan, China, Australia, Netherlands, Singapore, South Africa, US have become partner of the state. The inaugural ceremony of the three day long event was graced by the presence of US state secretary John Kerry and UN secreatary general Ban-Ki-Moon. Highlights of vibrant gujarat summit 2015

The high profile gathering of visitors from all around the world involved many industrialists and investors participation in the event. Reliance industries chief Mukesh Ambani declared his company would invest 1lakh crore in 12-18 months in the state. While speaking at the event Kumar Mangalam Birla on behalf of Aditya Birla group announced to invest Rs.20000 crore in the state.Foreign companies also showed their interest in investing in the state. Among foreign companies Australian mining company Rio Tinto assured for creation of 30000 jobs in the diamond cutting industry in Gujarat. Company’s CEO Sam Walsh said in his speech. Speaking at the event Prime minister Narendra Modi showed concerns over fluctuating global economy obstructing inclusive growth. He also expressed India’s desire to act on poverty and environmental issues at International level. World bank chief Jim Yong Kim sought attraction during his speech. Speaking about the inclusive growth, he said tax and subsidy reforms are the essential growth elements. Under the leadership of Narendra Modi India’s GDP is likely to grow at 6.4% in 2015, he added. US state secretary John Kerry welcomed competitiveness among the states and co-operative federalism in the country at the same time.

Important MoUs signed

31 Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs) were inked in various fields on the inaugural day of the7th Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit in Gandhinagar yesterday.
A major MoU was signed between World Bank, Government of India and the Gujarat Government, according to which the World bank will support Gujarat in the ‘Swachhta Abhiyan’ or cleanliness mission, and build smart cities.
Other key MoUs were signed by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited for rail systems and Indo-China Development Private Ltd. for a trade centre.
In the theme Seminar, ‘Gujarat: preferred hub for defense production’, as many as 11 MoUs were signed.
One of the MoUs included Adani Enterprise’s interest to develop integrated solar PV manufacturing cluster and Narmada Bio-chem to produce organic and inorganic fertilizer.
