i) Shinawatra was accused of making a huge loss to the country over a rice subsidy scheme. Under it, farmers were paid double the market price for their produce – in a bid to boost their incomes.
But it turned out to be a disaster, with huge stockpiles unsold in warehouses.
3. Saraswathi Menon was appointed in UN peace bulding architecture.

Indian sociologist Saraswathi Menon has vast experience in womens’ and development issue. She has been the director of the Policy Division of UN-Women, the UN body for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, and the director of the UN Development Program’s Evaluation Office. Her other UNDP assignments included postings in Mongolia and Nepal.
