Micromax dethrones Samsung as largest smartphone firm in India

Micromax dethrones Samsung to become the largest smartphone firm in India. The Indian smartphone maker overtook the Korean company Samsung from the top spot. Based on the data of October-December quarter Micromax controlled 22 per cent of total market share in smartphone business. On the other hand Samsung’s marketshare was slightly below (20 percent) than that of Micromax in smartphone business. With this Micromax became the first domestic company to acquire the top spot in Indian smartphone market. The top four players in Q4 2014 in India by units shipped were Micromax, Samsung, Karbonn and Lava.
