1. Three Indian pharmaceutical companies got USFDA approval.
Explanation –
i) Aurobindo pharma, Lupin and Jubilant life sciences received authorital nod from USFDA.
ii) USFDA (U.S Food and drug administration) is the drug control body of US.
2. Citizenship ammendment act ordinance got president‘s assent.
Explanation –
i) The ordinance seeks to merge person of Indian origin (PIO) and Overseas citizenship of India (OCI) schemes.
ii) PIO cardholders were now eligible for only 15-year visas. By this scheme PIOs will get life-long Indian visa.
iii) This will prohibit the practice of appearing before the local police station on every visit.
iv) The amendment will give foreigners a relief of 30 days in a year when they can travel outside the country. The Citizenship Amendment Bill of 1955 was first introduced by the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government in 2013.

Explanation –
i) Avijit Ghosh appointed the CMD of Heavy engineering corporation ltd. on 7th january 2015.
ii) Mr. Ghosh was the director of mining in Hindustan Copper ltd.
4. Sindhushree Khullar to be the first CEO of NITI ayog.
Explanation –
i) Ms. Khullar is a 1975 batch UT cadre IAS officer. She was the Secretary of Planning Commission in 2012.
ii) Also, Mr.Bibek Debroy, former DRDO chief VK Saraswat appointed full time members. The ex-officio members include Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitly, Suresh Prabhu and Radha Mohan Singh.

Explanation –
i) Jamsetji Tata is the founder of Tata group. He founded the group in 1968. Jamsetji Tata is considered as the father of modern industry in India. He is the first industrialist to be felicitated in such a way.
